A premier cover band with a great mix of classic and contemporary rock as well as blues and country. Tarp is a 5-person group featuring male and female lead vocals. The band performs a great live show, rocking stages all across the Miami Valley with their unbelievably unique set of tunes. The band's individual abilities, talents and influences enable them to perform an unthinkably diverse repertoire ....everything from The Beatles to Pink Floyd to Eric Clapton to Four Non Blondes to Beth Hart to Stevie Ray Vaughan to Toby Keith to Chuck Berry to Alanis Morissette... something for everyone! Five good friends who are loving every minute of it. You will too!!!!
Also know as "Madame Tarp", Lori is arguably the best female vocal artist to be heard in the Dayton Area for many moons. Originally from the Dayton area, she spent a number of years in Chicago honing her skills. She is back with a vengeance, her dynamic style makes her truly unique. Also, she thinks Toby Keith is HOT!!!
Born and raised in New York City (Center of the Galaxy), Jim has been all over the world but now calls the Dayton area home. On February 9, 1964 Jim found himself mesmerized by George Harrison as the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show... thus began his lifelong obsession with both the guitar and the Beatles. A Fender fanatic, he draws heavily on his Classic Rock & Blues influences (Joe Walsh, Phil Keaggy, Stevie Ray, Eric Clapton, and good friend Eric Jerardi) to craft tasty solos and riffs in support of TARP's wildly diverse tune list. Yet he is quite happy trading leads with Dave, chunking chords as a sideman in Madame Tarp's band and having a great second bite of the apple.
Dave - Lead/Rhythm Guitar & Lead Vocals Raised in Greene County, Dave's first exposure to music came from beating on his older brother's drum set. Naturally, he wasn't supposed to touch the drums so when his brother would catch him, it usually resulted in a good smack to the head for Dave, prompting him to take up a much safer instrument, the guitar. Over the years, he has developed into a fine musician who brings a lot of enthusiasm and energy to the stage. We're happy to report, he has overcome his fear of drummers. We're not sure, but there is a rumor Dave is a big fan of show tunes so if you hear someone quietly singing Oklahoma it's probably Dave.
Originally from Chicago, as a child he showed an early interest in drums by playing on the bar stools in the family basement. Theo found some success while immersing himself in the all original Chicago music scene before relocating to Dayton. He has been in several Dayton area bands before the formation of Tarp. To say he is a "force" behind the kit is a vast understatement. Ask about the Lone Ranger, maybe he will make an appearance at the next show..
Fred "The Captain" - Bass & Backing Vocals The other half of the formidable Tarp rhythm section that drives the band. He has lived in the Dayton area all of his life and has played for years in many bands. His influences are James Jamersion, Willie Weeks and Duck Dunn, "listen to those guys, that's all you need to know about playing bass!". Fred sez.. WHOT! WHOT!
